Scottish Mountain Rescue

After winning a competitive pitch, I have worked with Scottish Mountain Rescue for the past six years to shape their annual reports and communications. The charity are inspiring and do phenomenal work, saving lives in the mountains and caves of Scotland. They needed reports with the same clarity and strength as the service they represent. I worked with their mountain logo, turning triangles into mountains and stalactites (and indeed stalagmites), along with strong typography and frontline photography. The publications bring together volunteer stories, operational data and fundraising messages in a clear, engaging and consistent way.

Over six years, the reports became a highlight of my working year. The images, stories, commitment and people giving their time to help strangers in difficult places are a joy to bring to life. Using design to make complex information feel clear and easy to read. Mountain forms, strong typography and honest photography give the publications a recognisable identity in rugged Scottish landscapes. The work grew through trust, consistency and a shared respect for the volunteers behind Scottish Mountain Rescue.

“Andy took on a number of projects for us including redesigning our Annual Review. We found him very easy to work with, he took time to understand what we needed, listened to our feedback and was very easy to communicate with. All the work was completely promptly and we were very happy with the quality of the final design work.”
