The Spice Witch Branding & Packaging Design.

The Spice Witch needed an identity that could grow from local favourite into a confident retail brand without losing its warmth and personality. Built around the idea of a playful “conjuror of artisan condiments”, the project combined characterful illustration, packaging design and exciting metallic finishes to create stand-out shelf presence. The result was a brand world full of charm, mischief and handcrafted character, designed to stand out across shops, markets and food fairs throughout Scotland.

The success of The Spice Witch identity came from embracing the personality already intrinsic to the brand. The stylised witch illustration celebrated attitude, warmth and humour, whilst the packaging system gave the growing product range consistency and standout appeal. Copper lids, rich colours and tactile finishes helped the products feel handcrafted but premium. It became one of those projects where every detail worked together naturally. A unique East Lothian food brand with real shelf presence, strong local recognition and a loyal following that continues to grow.

“I had been planning to refresh my brand for a while but struggled to find a designer among recommendations who really shared my vision. Andy, however, was outstanding. He got it straight away.  He knew what I wanted, even when I couldn't articulate it. He is so talented, his patience is infinite and his manner very easy-going, (which was essential during my project and the extremely tight timescales!) His work has completely turned my business around. The branding has been complimented by some very big names in the food and drink industry and has helped me to gain some amazing recognition. We are continuing to work together as my business is growing and hope to do so for many years to come. I recommend his services at every opportunity.”
